After considering feedback and the marking scheme and conferring with Matt, I have decided that I will adjust the midterm mark by making the 40 marks from 3(e) and 3(f), as well as the 20 marks for simplification in 3(b)--3(d), extra credit. This will be implemented by multiplying your term test mark by 196/136 = 1.44. There will not be any saturation, so if you got more than 136 marks initially, it will count for extra credit.
I feel that multiple different considerations all allow me to conclude that this adjustment is reasonable.
We will also keep the change of allowing a higher score on the final to replace the term test score. As this requires a vote to change the marking scheme, that vote will be held in class on Thursday and Friday.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
