All,

Next week's assignment is now available here. It will be due Tuesday, June 16, at 3:30 PM EDT.

I have also extended the due date for this week's assignment to Tuesday, June 9, at 3:30 PM EDT. You are of course encouraged to submit it earlier.

Please read the following information carefully:

The assignments are due at 3:30 PM EDT. There is a half hour grace period for submission, meaning that the Crowdmark due date is 4:00 PM EDT. Assignments submitted any amount of time after 4:00 PM EDT will be marked but will be given a 0. I expect you to have the submission process completed well in advance of 4:00 PM EDT and will generally not waive the late penalty.

For greater clarity, unlike the quizzes and the tests, I do not consider it an academic offense to continue working on the assignment after 3:30 PM. However, you are responsible for making sure that your assignment is completely submitted before the 4:00 PM cutoff time, and if you push submission too close to that time you risk getting a 0 on the unsubmitted portions.

The submission portals for both of these assignments will be available on Crowdmark momentarily.

A couple hints for this week's assignment:

Question 1: We have seen only a handful of explicit examples of functions which are analytic on the whole plane. Can you recognise the functions in this problem as real or imaginary parts of some of those functions?

Question 2: For each of these integrals, you must either (a) compute them explicitly using a parameterisation of the curve given, or (b) show how the value can be determined from a general theorem covered by this past week in class. It is not enough to cite a specific example done in class. Also you are not allowed to use the Cauchy integral formula as we have not yet covered it.

Please let me know if you have any comments, questions, or concerns about any of the foregoing!

Lecture notes for 5101 from this past week will be posted by sometime on Monday (later today if possible).
