I would like to clarify the pedagogical purpose of the practice problems. The idea is for you to do your best to solve them on your own, then take questions you either do not know how to solve or aren't sure you solved correctly to office hours and/or your tutorial, and only check the correct solutions for hints when you have done everything you can. The point is NOT to try to memorise the correct solutions!

Given all this, I do not intend to post solutions too early, in general. However, given the circumstances peculiar to this past week's lectures, there is some information in the correct solutions which is of independent use, so I have decided to post them here. Please let me know if you spot any typographical errors or otherwise unclear passages, or if you have any questions.

Office hours will be at 9 AM, 7 -- 9 PM, and 10 PM tomorrow.
