By now you should have received an e-mail from Crowdmark inviting you to access an assessment titled 'Sample quiz' with a four-character code following. For most of you, this code should represent your current section time (taking account of any manual adjustments I have processed); in other words, the section you will attend and in which you will write the quiz. Please check that it is correct! There are a few of you whose times I have had to set up manually -- your code should be XXXX.
If anyone received an invitation to an assessment with an incorrect code, or if anyone received an invitation to two assessments, or if anyone did not receive any invitation at all, please let me know so I can be sure everything is sorted by the time of the actual quiz!
TA office hours going forwards will be as follows (a reminder that my office hours are here):
Monday, 3PM (Zoom); Tuesday, 7 or 8 PM (Collaborate); Wednesday, 2PM (Zoom); Thursday, 9AM (Collaborate); Thursday, 8PM (Zoom).
For this week only Tuesday office hours will be from 7 until 9 to gauge which hour would be best. I am also happy to hear feedback on the choice between these two times.
I also wanted to clarify something about remark requests -- when I noted in the syllabus that 'I deserve more marks' is rarely a good reason to ask for a remark, what I had in mind was arguing that the marking scheme was wrong. It is valid to ask about your mark if it is not in line with what was given in the marking scheme.
(I have not usually distributed a marking scheme which is probably why the statement in the syllabus was not clear.)
On the other hand, within the requirements of the marking scheme the TAs who do the marking generally have authority to decide how much to penalise any particular mistake. If you have issues you cannot resolve with your TA feel free to bring them to my attention, though my general policy is to defer to the TAs' decisions.
Let me know if you have any questions!
