All,

The term test will be Wednesday, June 26, at 7.00 PM in EX310. Please arrive by 6.50 as the test will start at 7.00 PM SHARP. You must bring your student card (or a government-issued photo ID) as well as a pen/pencil. No aids will be allowed.

The test will last for 120 minutes and consist of 6 questions.

About memorisation: Please see the notes here. Note that by calling the last three things 'less important' I do not mean that they do not need to be memorised. None of these things will be provided on the term test, so you need to be sure you remember them in case they are needed. This applies particularly to the formula for P_{l, m} in terms of P_l, since failing to remember it could render an entire problem unsolvable.

I will not be posting answers to the practice problems, for a couple reasons: one is that I want you to understand how to work the problems in general, and not try to approach the test by memorising a multitude of different particular solutions, and posting answers to the practice problems would defeat this purpose. Another, more practical, reason is that I don't really have the time it would take to write up careful solutions to the problems.

That being said, if you have a partial solution and would like a suggestion as to how to get unstuck, please feel free to send me what you have and I will be happy to give you feedback.

Office hours will be held tomorrow 1--2 in Bahen 2139, as usual.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Nathan
