I have typed up a brief statement of a few points from Thursday's lecture which will be useful on Homework 2 and posted it here. I apologise that it is so late, and so very incomplete. I intend to post full lecture notes eventually, but it will probably not be until Monday afternoon. In the meantime, Examples 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 in the textbook may be useful for the homework.

Please note that even though Monday is a holiday, the homework is still due 6 AM EDT that morning. You are of course welcome to submit it early if you like. Delaying the due date would have disrupted the course too much.

For readings for next week, please review sections 2.5.2, 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 4.1.1, the first part of 1.6 (before 1.6.1), and 1.6.5.
